Pocket of Preschool Ribbon Cutting 3/11, Open House 4/22

On Saturday, March 11, members of the New Melle Chamber of Commerce welcomed a new business, Pocket of Preschool Academy with a ribbon cutting. Jackie Kops is opening the private, half day preschool in her home at 510 W. Hwy. D, Wentzville (just west of New Melle.)  She will host a second open house on Saturday, April 22, 2017 to allow an opportunity for more families to stop by and take a look. The school will open this fall with classes on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:15 until 12 noon.

Jackie earned her Bachelors and Masters of Education from Maryville University. She is licensed to teach birth to sixth grade by the state of Missouri. She taught full day preschool in Rockwood for over 11 years. Many of her theme units, games, and lesson plans are utilized by teachers all over the country. She is also a member of NAEYC (a professional early childhood educator organization) and teaches a variety of professional development trainings to other teachers in the area.

Pocket of Preschool Academy will implement a theme based curriculum designed to facilitate learning through hands-on activities. Jackie believes children learn best through play and experiences. She is a firm believer that children learn by doing, getting messy, investigating their questions, and problem solving with their friends. Intentional play and explorations will be set up to meet the needs of individual students in the classroom so that every student has the opportunity to develop in the areas of social, emotional, language, literacy, math, science, creative arts, fine motor and gross motor skills. Her programs are based on current research, state and national standards, common core, and aligned with the kindergarten curriculum.

Pocket of Preschool Academy is currently enrolling for the 2017-2018 school year. For more information, visit, follow Pocket of Preschool Academy on Facebook or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Phone:  314-795-9551.
