TROY, MO, August 8, 2022 – Four charitable organizations were each awarded a $5,000 “Sharing Success” grant by Cuivre River Electric Cooperative (CREC) and CoBank. The recipients of the 2022 grants are Anne’s Anchor, New Melle Sports & Recreation (NMSR), The Sparrow’s Nest, and Warren County Literacy.

St. Paul’s Lutheran in New Melle held the second annual St. Paul’s Kidz Carnival on July 16, it was a hot day; fortunately, there was shade, a breeze and a misting station to stay cool. The Kidz Carnival was free; the only request was for donations to St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.
Sara Jane “Sally” Ahlvin, nee Hawkins, age 93, of Sikeston, Mo., passed away Wednesday morning, October 27, 2021, in O’Fallon, Ill., at the home of her son Paul, under the compassionate care of her children and VITAS Healthcare.
Sally was a resident of Sikeston since 1971, where her husband, the late Dr. Robert Ahlvin, served as a physician, pathologist and director of the medical lab at MO Delta Medical Center. She was an active and faithful member of Hunter Memorial First Presbyterian Church, where she assisted with the publication of the monthly newsletter, baked communion bread, and visited shut-ins. Sally enjoyed cross-stitching, baking, gardening, and bird-watching. She hiked and traveled often with her husband before his death in 2009. She was an avid bowler in her younger years and was a longtime fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Robert Ahlvin; parents Lester R. and Flora, nee McLemore, Hawkins; and brother Joseph Hawkins.
Surviving are her children Paul (Terri) Ahlvin of O’Fallon, Ill., Mark (Cathy) Ahlvin of Sikeston, Mo., David (Katie) Ahlvin, of Fulton, Mo., and Elizabeth (Mark) Shell of Defiance, Mo.; seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; niece Connie Johnson, and nephew Bob (Melva) Hawkins.

Visitation will be held at 10 am, Saturday, November 13, 2021, followed by a Memorial Service at 11 am, at Hunter Memorial First Presbyterian Church, Sikeston, Mo.
