      August 09, 2022 New Melle Country Market is hosting the 2nd Annual New Melle Music Festival on September 10, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Last year the Festival had over 1000 visitors, and a bigger crowd is expected this year. The music will play in two sessions from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and then 2 to 6 p.m. and will feature Chris Lozano and the Coyote Band.

      St. Paul’s Lutheran in New Melle held the second annual St. Paul’s Kidz Carnival on July 16, it was a hot day; fortunately, there was shade, a breeze and a misting station to stay cool.
      The Kidz Carnival was free; the only request was for donations to St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.

Loretta Bruns, nee Molitor, passed away Monday, January 24, 2022, at the age of 70 years.

She is survived by four children: Jerry Bruns of Warrenton, MO, Terry Bruns of Foristell, MO, Carrie Eckelkamp of Wright City, MO, and Larry Bruns and his wife, Lindsey of Foristell, MO; three grandchildren, Dalton Bruns, Wyatt Bruns, and Eleanor Bruns; five siblings, Richard Molitor of Marthasville, MO, William Molitor and wife, Sandy of Defiance, MO, Conrad Molitor and wife, Karen of Flint Hill, MO, Florence Joerling and husband, Gene of New Melle, and Jane Huddleston of Marthasville, MO.

Loretta was born January 29, 1951, in St. Charles, Missouri, daughter of the late August Molitor and wife, Florence Hoeckelman Molitor. Loretta was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in New Melle. She was employed by Short Stops Convenience Store in New Melle and retired from Daniel Boone Elementary, where she was a Custodial Engineer for many years. Loretta enjoyed being outdoors, watching birds and gardening, with the scent of flowers and trees surrounding her. In addition, she took pleasure in painting and puzzles. 

Loretta was preceded in death by Gary Bruns (father of her children), seven siblings, August Molitor, Jr., Gerald Molitor, Robert Molitor, Glennon Molitor, Mary Ann Rhodes, Elizabeth Thompson, and Michael Molitor.

Visitation: Monday, January 31, 2022, 2-8 p.m. at Pitman Funeral Home, 1545 Wentzville Parkway, Wentzville, MO 63385. Funeral Mass: Tuesday, February 1, 2022, 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 8 Hwy D, New Melle, MO 63365. Interment following in the church cemetery.
