Robert “Bob” Hofer Jr., entered into rest on Sunday, May 29th, 2022, at the age of 64.

LovinRobert-Hofer-Jr.jpgg husband of 38 years to Lynn (nee Eggering) Hofer; cherished father of Ashley Hesjedal, Adam (Haley) Hofer, and Barb (Dan) Clardy; beloved grandfather of Holden and Will Clardy; dear brother of Janet (Joe) Henke and Jim Hofer; dear son of the late Robert Sr. and Gloria (nee Johnston) Hofer; dear uncle, cousin, and friend to many.

Bob was an integral part of the Millstone Weber – Bangert Brothers Construction Co. and Millstone Bangert, Inc. before that – for more than 40 years. Bob was a superintendent on some of the most significant projects in the area, such as the design-build reconstruction of I-64 and the design-build construction of the final leg of the Page Extension (MO-364.) If there was a complex project to be built, Bob was the man for the job.

For the last several years Bob served as Millstone Weber’s Personnel Manager. He was integral in building MW’s HR Department from the ground up. His encyclopedic knowledge of the industry and what it takes to succeed in it, his steady hand and eternal good humor were vital in helping develop a workforce ready for the challenges ahead.

Bob was a second-generation member of the MW, MBI and BBCC family. His father, Robert W. Hofer, was a legendary executive for more than 40 years. Bob was a true son of North St. Louis County and a proud 1977 graduate of McCluer High School. More recently Bob had been involved in the town government of his adopted community, Augusta, MO. He served on the Public Works Board for several years before ascending to the position of Chairman of the Town Board. He was Chairman at the time of his death and was affectionately referred to as ”Mayor Bob”.

Hockey was a Hofer passion. Bob loved the Blues. He and his brother, Jim, coached youth and high school hockey throughout the area. Not sticking just to the ice, T-Ball teams with his brother-in-law Joe were a North County legend. He also had a passion for collections, yardwork, and travel.

He will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him. There is no substitute. Rest in peace Bob.

Memorial donations in Bob’s name may be made to the Washington University School of Medicine to a division of your choice.
